The concept of thermal insulation using neoprene:
By trapping a thin layer of water around the feet, the neoprene boot works in two ways: 1. The trapped water inside the boot gradually warms up 2. Heat transfer from the body decreases. The boot and the thin covering of water form a layer of insulation. Neoprene is a closed-cell elastomeric foam with trapped nitrogen bubbles that have insulating properties.
The design of the DG500 dinghy/catamaran neoprene boot is intended for cool and cold weather:
The Tribord DG500 neoprene boots are made of 100% neoprene (thickness: 5mm) to ensure optimal thermal insulation. All seams are sewn together with strong thread for this particular type of fabric and are glued to prevent water getting through the seams. A neoprene strip is sewn under the zip to reduce the cooling effects of the water that may get through underneath.

    Good budget boot but small
Value for money for occaisional sailing Probably not good enough for serious/squad sailor

Bought for my husband for when he has to help my son launch. Perfect for this. They came up small though so had to get a size bigger (whereas the previous version came up huge!). Reasonable looking boot with good sole.
